A day at the studio

A fairly typical shooting-day at the studio. Jason is shooting, Tabitha is doing her thing, and the models are there to look great. Bryan, Caleb, and myself are mostly in our own little world but come out on occasion. Anyway...

Tabitha

The fire alarm was being tested. Really awesome. Caleb took one for the team and held towels over the evil-nazgul-shrieking-box. Props doled : CALEB -- 9 PROPS.

Sometimes random people stop by. In and out all day, people bring things, take things, leave things, and we steal their picture as often as possible.

Tabitha, hair/makeup artist extraordinaire, prepares the next person in line for Jason to shoot. Notice jason just behind shooting

and at the end of the day this is the view from the north side

Wedding favorites

Well, it seems, that in effort to get the website done on top of my normal work load all I have been able to shoot lately are weddings. Sure it's nothing like taking a trip to India but the people are about as nice, so it works out. Anyway, since this is the bulk of what I've shot as of late I thought I may as well post a few that i like from the past few months.

Street Sleeper

While rummaging through old photos I came across this guy sleeping on the street in New York. I know its not uncommon but this still gets reaction from me. My mind has sort of been in a humanitarian way lately and it's harder and harder for me to see things like this and not have desire to change them.
I have a friend working for CARE right now and am compelled more, every time I think about this organization, to do what I can to be a part of it. Not only would being involved be using what I love to help people and bring awareness and aide, but CARE has a specific agenda to empower women through their work.

Anyway.

Tammy & Jamie

Tammy and Jamie in Birmingham.

I swear the world gets smaller every minute I'm alive. I mean that in a global sense [running into people in other countries/cities/etc] but even on a local scale it blows my mind. Birmingham is a city of around 1.5 million [metro] and every time I shoot something involving a group I'm amazed because I know pretty much no one there and previously I didn't even know they existed. I met with Tammy and Jamie about shooting for them and realized half way through the meeting that I already knew Tammy, just not formally. She was a new server at a local café (read: greasy spoon burger joint) some friends and I go to as often as possible...I jut hadn't put them together. THEN...it turns out Jamie is in the band Evil Right Wing Conspiricy wtih my good buddy Kevin. Granted, they are in the arts community here in town, but I just never see stuff like this coming. If you get a chance, check out their musical collective Handwritten Letters.
