Stephanie at the apiary

July 30, 2018

We don’t always make the right choices in our beekeeping, but sometimes mistakes lead to beautiful things. We lost a hive and left boxes out for bee-passers-by to come have a buffet on leftover honey. Not the best idea, not the worst, but stunning to watch. No idea how many untold thousands of workers were in the air during this process, but I haven’t been this enveloped by bees since watching our first swarm five years ago. This is Stephanie using the smoker to help get the bees off the frames so we could take them back to the shop.
